Niche Marketing
Niche marketing is a business or website which focuses on the need for a certain product or service that isn’t being met by the mainstream suppliers.
Deciding on a “Niche” is the first and most important step you’ll need take in building a profitable home start up business and a strong online presence. It is important to keep in mind that your goal is to build a business relationship with your future customers. This concept can be used for any website, social network or blog.
Choosing Your “Niche Market” and what you’ll need to think about.
You’ll need to think about what your interests are. This will help you decide what might be a “niche” market that works best for you. And what content you’ll be adding to your site over time. This ‘niche” concept will provide quality “FREE” traffic to your site. What I mean by “FREE” is….you didn’t “pay” for specific keywords that Internet surfers (everyone) might enter into the search bar on Google for example.
There are actually Bazillions of searches done on different search engines on a Bazillion different things EVERYDAY! Folks like you and I searching for something to read about or to purchase. Many, many people also search for others who have the same interests or would like to join a group or some type of social network.
Here is a list of things that will help you decide where to begin a home start up business revolving around your “niche”.
#1….The most important. What do you really like, or have a strong interest in, and believe me it doesn’t matter what it is.
#2….Or…What you have specific skills or knowledge of, and you enjoy well enough to actively do some research on.
#3….Has had a good amount of searches done on the subject.
#4….And hasn’t been overwhelmed by tons and tons of competition. Remember this is all about “content” These are the things you’re going to post on or write articles about.
In no way shape or form has everything or every subject been saturated by people writing about it….Absolutely…No way!
If you like to fish for example, It would be extremely difficult to build a website and add “high ranking content” for search engine results, on such a vast topic like fishing. You could do it, but it would take a long time and it would be difficult if not impossible to compete with sites like “Field and Stream ” or ” InFisherman” and allot of other high ranking sites with a vast amount of articles on fishing.
Fishing is not a “Niche” its simply an activity.
But….As an example, perhaps you’re an avid fly fisherman. Or maybe you’ve only started to learn fly fishing but you really enjoy it… Well…”Fly Fishing” is still a little broad…. OK….What if you have a good knowledge of the best rivers to “fly fish” where you live, like “The Big Horn River” for example. What types of flies work best for certain times of the year and so on.
Now That’s a “Niche” Market!
Building a site with content that you write about like “Fly Fishing the Big Horn River” is a topic that your much more likely to rank higher on in search engine results. This is the key to the 1st step. This is how you will generate or “point” targeted traffic to your website for free from a search engine query.
Don’t forget “Sewing” or “Gardening” for example are not “Niche’s” but activities. However, hand quilting or knowing how to grow the best cucumbers for pickling would be a niche. Or you could choose woodworking or embroidery, etc etc etc. The list goes on and on and the possibilities are truly endless.
At this point you maybe thinking.
How am I going to make any money writing stuff about “Fly Fishing the Big Horn River” Keep in mind you have specific knowledge in this subject, what ever it is. People “will and do” search this on search engines. People from your area and others who may be visiting their family or friends and want to fly fish around where you live. They’re not going to type “fly fishing” in the search bar, they are looking for “specific” information like “Fly Fishing Wyoming” or “Fly Fishing-Big Horn River” See what I mean. This is how you get that specific “targeted traffic” to your website. After you write a few articles with valuable content, you’ve also built a rapport. People now know and trust your opinion on the matter, and they will return for more “specific” info, because of it.
How do I make money?
After you have written a few articles, and by articles I mean 300-400 words on the subject. Not that difficult really. It may seem difficult but its not. After you write just a few words you’ll see how fast they build into allot! And there it is, Viola! Your article. Then you could place a few affiliate links on your site pointing “your” visitors to eBay or allot of other sites that offer fly tying supplies or whatever your “niche” is. Do you get the picture?
Affiliates, 24 Hour Money Machine.
Remember the “Traveling salesman” Nearly all manufacturers have affiliates, a salesman. An affiliate is the owner of a website, YOU! Who promotes products and then links to the manufacturer. They generally pay very good commissions for sales and you don’t have to do anything but get “your visitor” to click and go to that site. Once they are there, the manufacturer will promote their products to make the sale. Guess what. Kerching! you get paid a commission. You don’t do anything else. You don’t have to promote particular products if you don’t want to. Some sites offer that option, some don’t. You don’t have to worry about inventory or anything like that. Just add a few comments about how they have great sales on whatever and provide the link to click. The world sees it! 24 Hours a Day! and you didn’t have to do all that hard work like the traveling salesman.
Google AdSense.
Google AdSense is another great way to make money from your site. When you use AdSense on your site, you need to….
But remember,
These are “your visitors” they trust your opinion. And you worked hard to get them there. So don’t tarnish that opinion with “Get Rich Quick Schemes” or anything like that. That is, if you want their trust and want them to return. And believe me you do! That’s how you get put in their favorites bar or bookmarked. Your site will establish a strong following of loyal customers and that’s where the money is! Sure you could convert a few readers into sales by promoting some get rich quick scheme but your reputation could and most certainly be ruined and “your niche market” could be corrupted by it. And folks that’s not what you want. I have many, many sites bookmarked on my laptop that I like to surf. And never once have I found a informative well thought out site promote some get rich quick scheme in niche markets, not one saved in my favorites anyway.
This is one of the most important parts about becoming an affiliate!
Build content first! You must! Don’t apply for a Google AdSense account or as an affiliate until you do. Otherwise your application may be rejected. It doesn’t need to be pages and pages, but it does need to have enough content that the affiliate approval staff will see the concept of your site and read some of your content. If they think your on the right path and will add sales for their site. Then you’ll be approved.
If you find a specific site that you would like to be an affiliate for, don’t be to quick to apply, wait and do some research on them. Then, write a short article about there site and products. Pay attention to how their site is promoting certain products and write about it. When you apply, point the approval staff to that page where you would like to place their link. Chances are very good that they’ll like what they see and you’ll receive an approval. If your application is denied, then just delete the info from your site and try another manufacturer. Sometimes your page ranking can play a part in the decision but don’t worry about that to much. They’re pretty sharp at marketing their products. Like I said earlier, If they like what they’ve read and they think you can make “your visitors” visit their site. Then you’ll be approved.
Step 2 Whats the competition in the “Niche” you have chosen?
